A Bit about Steve Warren.

Steve grew up in New Albany, Indiana and followed his father (a Louisville, KY radio DJ), around the region to country concerts and radio stations. One of his first jobs was at country WTMT in Louisville, then on to WIRE in Indianapolis before moving to New York..For most of the last few decades Steve has enjoyed being a New York radio personality who has the distinction of being the only person to work on-the-air at all three of New York City’s Country radio stations, WHN, WKHK-FM and finally WYNY-FM. While at WHN, Steve was Music Director and very influential in getting the Country format accepted in that market. Among the challenges were persuading record stores to carry Country records and getting performing venues to host Country artists’ concerts. Steve has been Program Director at other successful Country stations like powerful KKYX in San Antonio and WPTR in Albany, N.Y., both 50,000 watt AM Country stations. Now, with a dual role as host of The Country Oldies Show and as a respected Programming Consultant and advisor to radio stations and broadcasting companies worldwide, the Country Oldies Show is a labor of love for Steve. He’s worked consistently to keep the Country recording artists (who built today’s Country format into the most successful radio format in the U.S.) from being forgotten and ignored. He counts as his friends many of the “heritage” artists with whom he has worked over the years.

His career also includes some major Non-Country stations as well, including: WNBC, WNEW, WPAT, CBS Radio (New York),KTSA, KKYX (San Antonio), KNBR (San Francisco), WPEN (Philadelphia), WROW (Albany), WING (Dayton), WIRE (Indianapolis). He has been on the air as a professional radio personality more than any other Programming Consultant, so his experience at guiding and directing is from practical success, not from theory. He designed and implemented all the country formats for Sirius Satellite Radio and featured as host of “Living with Technology” on Martha Stewart Living Sirius channel 112.

In addition to performing on the radio. Steve is a talented Actor and Voice-Over person, who you may have heard on radio or TV commercials or seen in  motion pictures “It Could Happen to You” with Nicholas Cage,“Riding In Cars With Boys” with Drew Barrymore. In 2007, watch for him in “Across the Universe”, directed by Julie Taymor and “Michael Clayton” with George Clooney. Steve appeared on NBC’s “Ed” and “The Sopranos” on HBO.

He enjoys travel, cooking, wine, food, and dining out. He frequently entertains guests with dinner gatherings from Chili Cookoffs to Country French cuisine. He’s written numerous restaurant reviews which have been published throughout the New York City area.  His latest radio book “RADIO: The Book” is a national broadcasting best seller. He is sought after as a public speaker and motivator for radio talent.
